Telling Eachother....and Telling Our Parents!

Jamie's Entry -

I will let Sarah post about finding out she was pregnant, but I can tell you that she called me right away.  She sounded a little shocked, but I was sooo excited for her!!!  I never expected her to have another baby (her son Carson is 7).  About a week or so later, I knew my period was late.  I had a preg test under my bathroom sink, but it had an expired date on it.....I used it anyway, and it was a clear positive!  I told Jim first, then immediately called Sarah.  I told her I wasn't sure if it was accurate, since it had expired, so she came over the next day with a new test for me!  Definitely positive!!

We waited a few weeks to tell Dad & Mom.  Sarah came over and we put them on speaker-phone and told them together "We're both pregnant!!!"

Sarah's Entry - Saturday, January 18th

I called Jamie. I could hardly get the words “I am pregnant” out of my mouth. She, of course, made me feel better after I babbled on about how I don’t think I can handle another child. I didn’t think it was possible to love another one like I do Carson and I don’t think we can afford it. She reassured me that it all would work out and that she was very excited for us. I hadn’t even missed my period yet, so I decided not to tell mom and dad at this point. I knew I needed to let this all sink in a little bit too. I didn’t want to be all hysterical again with any other family members.

Sarah

March 3rd- March 29th:

Things seem to be going very well. Wow, am I tired. Somehow I have no energy to do laundry, clean the bathrooms, cook dinner, but I manage to pull off my 12-14 work days. Hmmmm… mind over matter? I haven’t cut out coffee or diet coke (I just can’t give that up- the caffeine is my survival!), vegetables sound disgusting, but for the most part I have been eating normally. I am typically not a breakfast eater and depending on my work day, sometimes I’ll skip lunch. I have been trying to make a point to fuel up in the mornings. I am an exerciser- but I am not a die- hard one! I usually get 3-4 runs in per week (3 miles) or do some high incline walks on the treadmill. The fatigue makes it hard now, but I have been doing my best to keep that routine going.

Morning, Afternoon & Evening Sickness!!!!

Since we wanted to wait until we were 10-12 weeks along before creating this blog, some of our entries will be dated in the past.

Jamie - Wednesday, March 10, 2010 - 6 Weeks
I have been soooo sick with nausea!!! On Monday and Tuesday of this week, I could barely get the energy to get a shower and get dressed. I had to call Jim to leave work early and help with Mya. I tried everything to stop the misery….I was eating everything that sounded appetizing….some of it stayed down, some of it didn’t!

I have felt a little better today. I go into my church every Wednesday morning to help out at the church, so I think the distraction this morning was most helpful! I’ve been feeling very tired in the middle of the day, which has kept me from doing my workout (not to mention the nausea & vomiting!). Is that a bad excuse?!!! Oh well!

Today is when I decided to switch to Sarah’s doctor. I did it for a number of reasons, but one of them is for the pure excitement of the doctor getting to have twin patients who are both pregnant together!

Jamie - Monday, March 29, 2010 - 10 Weeks

Jim, Mya and I got home last week from a vacation in Florida.  It was a fun time, especially for Mya!!!  The day before we left, I had my first appointment with my new doctor and got an ultrasound.  The best part....she gave me a Rx for the nausea!!!  Perfect timing, since we had to get on a plane the next day.  The medicine definitely makes me noticeably tired, but it has helped with the nausea...and I haven't thrown up in over a week!!  Praise the Lord!  When I was pregnant with Mya, my doctor wouldn't even consider medicine, so I had to "tough it out"....for 12 weeks!!! (Warning: I will probably be making many negative references to my previous doctor, as it was not a good experience!)

Sarah

Tuesday, March 2nd

My first doctor appointment:

I was excited to meet my new doctor Tammy Chan. My family physician had given me her name. I was happy with my other OB, but decided to switch because of pure convenience. I really like and trust my family doctor and felt good with her high recommendation to switch to Dr. Chan.

First Look at Baby:

I forgot how cool it is to see that first ultra sound and talk about that little peanut that’s growing inside! The nurses and Dr. Chan were so kind and very congratulatory. I briefed them on my pregnancy and delivery with Carson (which went very well) and was sent home with lots- literally a bag full of prenatal vitamin samples. I am such a baby about taking the vitamins- eh. Nothing like burping up all that “stuff” for two hours!
